Overview
The Children's Pickup Console is the operational interface for managing children during and after a service. It shows all children currently checked in, organised by room assignment, and provides tools for searching by name or security tag, releasing children to parents, and tracking time in room. The page enters “deep work” mode with focused breadcrumb navigation.
The console updates time-in-room calculations every 60 seconds to keep the display current without requiring a manual refresh.
Fields & Controls
Header

| Service Title | Display | The name of the current service (e.g., "Sunday Morning"). |
| Date & Time | Display | The full date, time, and campus of the service. |
| Breadcrumbs | Navigation | Shows "Children's Pickup > [Service Name]". Hidden on tablet and mobile. |
KPI Strip
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Checked In | KPI card | Total number of children checked in to this service, with a sub-count of how many are still in rooms. |
| Released | KPI card | Number of children that have been released (picked up) today. Highlighted in green when count is above zero. |
| Unassigned | KPI card | Number of children that are checked in but have no room assignment. Highlighted in amber when count is above zero. |
Tabs

Search / Scan

| Search Field | Text input | Search by child name or security tag code. Filters the displayed children in real-time across all rooms. |
Room Cards (Rooms Tab)

| Room Name | Section header | The name of the children's room (e.g., "Nursery", "Preschool", "Preteens"). |
| Age Range | Display | The age range configured for the room (e.g., "Ages 0-2"). |
| Capacity | Display | The room capacity, if configured. |
| Child Card | Card | One card per child in the room showing avatar with initials, name in "Last, First" format, and time in room. |
| Time in Room | Display | Duration since check-in (e.g., "45m", "1h 20m"). Updates automatically every 60 seconds. |
| Release Button | Button | Releases the child (marks as checked out). Only appears for children who have not yet been released. |
| Unassigned Group | Section | Children with no room assignment are grouped at the bottom under "Unassigned". |
Released Children
| Field | Type | Description |

| Show Released Toggle | Toggle | Shows or hides children who have already been released. Useful for confirming all children have been picked up. |
Actions
Release a Child
- Find the child in the room list or use the search field to filter by name or security tag
- Click the Release button on the child's card
- The child is marked as checked out and moves to the released list
- A success toast confirms the release
Search by Security Tag
- Type the security tag code into the search field
- The matching child will be highlighted across all rooms
- Click the Release button to process the pickup
