CareThe Prayer Requests page provides two views: a Prayer Wall for your prayer team to see and pray over active requests, and a Manage view for staff to organize, categorize, and track prayer requests. Congregation members can submit prayer requests through the public prayer wall endpoint.

Overview
Prayer requests are care items of type “prayer.” The page has two tabs: the Wall view shows requests as cards with an “I'm Praying” button and prayer count, while the Manage view shows a filterable list with status management. Requests can be filtered by prayer category (Healing, Salvation, Family, Guidance, Grief, Thanksgiving, Church, General) drawn from the system dictionary.
Fields & Controls
Prayer Wall View

| View Toggle | Tab bar | Switch between Wall view and Manage view. |
| Request Card | Card | Displays the prayer request text, requester initials, time since submission, and category icon. |
| I'm Praying | Button | Click to record that you are praying for this request. Optimistic UI updates the count immediately. |
| Prayer Count | Number | Number of people who have clicked "I'm Praying" for this request. |
| Category Icon | Icon | Visual indicator of the prayer category (heart for Salvation, compass for Guidance, etc.). |
Manage View

| Category Filter | Filter chips | Filter requests by prayer category from the system dictionary. |
| Show Answered | Toggle | Show or hide requests that have been marked as answered/resolved. |
| Request Text | Text | The prayer request content. |
| Requester | Display | Avatar and name of the person who submitted the request. |
| Status | Badge | Open, In Progress, or Answered/Resolved. |
| Submitted | Relative date | When the request was submitted (e.g., "Today", "3d ago"). |
New Request Drawer

| Privacy Level* | Select | Pastoral Confidential, Staff, or Prayer Team. Prayer Team requests can appear on the public wall. |

| Category* | Select | Prayer category (Salvation, Healing, Provision, Family, Guidance, Grief, Thanksgiving, Church, General). |
Actions
Submit a New Prayer Request
- Click the + New Request button or navigate with
?action=new - A drawer slides open from the right
- Enter the request text
- Set the privacy level (Prayer Team to show on the wall)
- Select urgency and category
- Click Submit
Mark as “I'm Praying”
- In the Wall view, find the request card
- Click the I'm Praying button
- The prayer count increments immediately (optimistic update)
Mark as Answered
- In the Manage view, find the request
- Click the Mark Answered action
- The request status changes to Resolved and moves to the answered section
Public Prayer Wall
The prayer wall has a public API endpoint that does not require authentication. This allows churches to embed a prayer wall on their website or share a link where congregation members can submit prayer requests and see approved requests. Only requests with Prayer Team privacy and the “Show on Wall” flag appear publicly.
