The Counseling page provides a focused view for managing pastoral counseling sessions. It filters care items to the “counseling” type and displays them with KPI cards, status filtering, and quick access to create new counseling items. Each counseling item tracks sessions through the standard care lifecycle with additional type-specific metadata.

Overview

The page shows four KPI cards at the top (Active Sessions, Urgent, In Progress, Resolved), followed by a filterable list of counseling items. Items can be filtered by status: All, Open, In Progress, or Resolved. Each row shows the member, status badge, urgency badge, creation date, and assigned counselor.

KPI Cards

Active SessionsNumberCount of counseling items with Open or In Progress status.
UrgentNumberActive counseling items marked as Urgent priority.
In ProgressNumberCounseling items currently in progress.
ResolvedNumberCounseling items that have been resolved or closed.

Counseling Item Fields

Member NameTextName of the person receiving counseling.
TitleTextDescription of the counseling topic.
StatusBadgeOpen (blue), In Progress (amber), Resolved (green), Closed (gray), Snoozed (purple).
UrgencyBadgeLow (green), Medium (amber), High (yellow), Urgent (red).
CreatedDateWhen the counseling item was created.
Assigned CounselorAvatarThe pastor or care minister handling the counseling sessions.

Status Filter

AllFilter chipShow all counseling items regardless of status.
OpenFilter chipShow only newly created counseling items.
In ProgressFilter chipShow only items with active counseling sessions.
ResolvedFilter chipShow completed counseling cases.

Actions

Create a Counseling Item

  1. Click + New Counseling Item
  2. You are redirected to the New Care Item form with the counseling type pre-selected
  3. Search for and select the member
  4. Enter a title describing the counseling need
  5. Fill in the Counseling Details section (session type, referral source, etc.)
  6. Set privacy level, urgency, and assign a counselor
  7. Click Create

Log a Counseling Session

  1. Click a counseling item to open the Item Detail page
  2. Use the Note tab to log session notes
  3. Mark notes as Private for sensitive session content
  4. Use the Visit tab to formally log a counseling session with date and duration

Complete Counseling

  1. Open the counseling item detail
  2. Click Resolve when the counseling engagement is complete
  3. Add a closing note summarizing the outcome
