settingsService Patterns (called “Service Schedules” in Settings) define your church’s recurring services — Sunday morning, Wednesday evening, etc. The system uses these patterns to automatically create individual Service Instances each week (a process called materialisation). Setting up patterns correctly is one of the first things you should do after creating your church.
Prerequisites
- At least one campus configured under Settings → Campuses
- SUPER_ADMIN or LEAD_PASTOR role
Step-by-Step
1. Navigate to Service Schedules
- Open Settings from the header menu
- Click Services in the left sidebar (under Finance)
- You will see a list of all existing service patterns, or an empty state if none exist yet
2. Create a New Pattern
- Click the + New Service button in the top-right
- A modal form appears with the following fields:
- Name (required) — The display name for this service, e.g. “Sunday Morning” or “Wednesday Evening”
- Day of Week — Select the recurring day (Sunday through Saturday)
- Service Time — The time the service starts, e.g.
10:00 - Window Start Offset (hours) — How many hours before the service time the giving/attendance window opens (default: 16 hours)
- Window End Offset (hours) — How many hours after the service time the window closes (default: 12 hours)
- Campus — Assign this pattern to a specific campus, or leave blank for all campuses
3. Save the Pattern
- Click Save to create the pattern
- A success toast confirms creation
- The new pattern appears in the list showing its day, time, and campus
4. Understand Materialisation
Once a pattern is saved and active, the system materialises it into concrete Service Instances. Each instance represents a specific occurrence (e.g. “Sunday Morning — Apr 6, 2026”). These instances are what you see on the Gather Calendar, and what you create Sessions and attendance records against.
5. Edit or Deactivate a Pattern
- Click on an existing pattern in the list to open the edit modal
- Modify any field and click Save
- To stop a pattern from generating new instances, click the Deactivate button — existing instances are not affected
