Set Up Worship Setlists

Setlists let worship leaders plan the music portion of a service in detail. You can add songs from your library, set keys and transpositions, arrange for smooth key flow between songs, link the setlist to a service instance, and view chord charts in a clean stage view.

Prerequisites

• Songs added to the Song Library (in Serve module)
• SUPER_ADMIN, LEAD_PASTOR, WORSHIP_LEADER, or TEAM_LEADER role
• A campus selected in the header

Step-by-Step

1. Navigate to Setlists

1. Open Serve from the header mega menu
2. Click Setlists
3. The list shows all setlists for the selected campus as cards with title, status, song count, and linked service
4. Filter by status (All, Draft, Ready) or link status (All, Linked, Unlinked)

2. Create a New Setlist

1. Click the + New Setlist button
2. A new setlist is created with a default title of “New Setlist — [today’s date]”
3. You are redirected to the setlist editor

3. Edit the Title

1. Click on the setlist title in the editor header
2. Type a descriptive name, e.g. “Sunday Morning Worship — Apr 13”
3. Press Enter or click away to save

4. Add Songs from the Library

1. The right panel shows the Library tab with your full song catalog
2. Use the search bar to find songs by title
3. Filter by genre using the genre dropdown
4. Click the + button on any song to add it to the setlist
5. The song appears in the left setlist panel with its default key

5. Arrange Key Flow

1. Each song in the setlist displays its effective key
2. Click on the key badge to open the key picker
3. Select a new key to transpose the song — the capo position adjusts automatically
4. For smooth transitions, aim for related keys between adjacent songs (e.g. C → G, or G → Em)
5. Recency badges appear on songs used within the last 2 weeks (amber or red) to help avoid repetition

6. Reorder Songs

1. Drag and drop songs in the setlist to reorder them
2. Grab the drag handle on any song card and move it to the desired position
3. The order is saved automatically

7. View Chord Charts

1. Click on any song in the setlist to select it
2. Switch the right panel to Chart mode
3. The chord chart displays with sections (Verse, Chorus, Bridge, etc.)
4. Use the Key Transpose controls to change the displayed key
5. Toggle between Standard and Nashville notation using the tabs
6. Toggle chord visibility on/off if you only need lyrics

8. Assign Song Leaders

1. Click the leader assignment area on a song item
2. Search for team members by name or select from the candidates list
3. Choose between assigning a Person (linked user) or a Position (role label)

9. Link to a Service

1. Click the Link to Service dropdown in the setlist header
2. Upcoming services for your campus are shown, sorted by date
3. Select a service instance to associate this setlist with that service
4. A linked service badge appears on the setlist in the list view

10. Mark as Ready and Open Stage View

1. When your setlist is finalized, click Mark Ready to change the status from Draft to Ready
2. Navigate to /serve/setlists/[id]/stage to open the stage view — a clean, distraction-free display optimized for tablets and confidence monitors
